I threw my warm body
Into the river Missouri
Saw two headlights on the road
Held my breath and swam down low
I couldn’t find my old blue jeans
while wading nude in the big muddy
Rusty blue Jon boat trolled by slow
with a pair of Levi’s wet in tow
It’s getting too late, to be out in the dark
You’ve got a hand on everything but the clock
I wore out my wasting time, when I was young and lost
the whole time thinking, I should stop
From here your shape is soft, a projection from your lover’s low beams
she turns her head and smiles, you are here, you are alive
when I saw the truth, in your exploding eyes
I threw my light into the dark
Did I fail, am I losing you?
Did I fail, am I losing you?
I took a walk through my aging scene
I saw my brother in the middle of the street
took out his phone and in a mass text wept
come to my room and speak of death
It’s getting too late, to be out in the dark
You’ve got a hand on everything but the clock
I wore out my wasting time, when I was young and lost
the whole time thinking, I should stop
The winter came swift and sent the swallows fleeing from their trees
the trees were still on fire, when the sky turned dark
when I saw the light through the lines of your storefront blinds
I wondered to myself, could you see me?
Did I fail, am I losing you?
Did I fail, am I losing you?
Did I fail, am I losing you?
Did I fail, am I losing you?
Jim, I'm loving this album! Sounds so good. I don't think the pedal steel was on the last versions of these tracks I heard. It's great! Kudos on a lovely record. Ben Armstrong
